Teen Killed in Parking Lot Crash at Campbell Hall School in Studio City
Several Others Injured in Collision at the Private School
STUDIO CITY, Calif. (June 5, 2025) – A 15-year-old boy was killed Wednesday afternoon in a parking lot crash at Campbell Hall School in Studio City on Laurel Canyon Boulevard.
Students had just been released from school and parents were lining up to pick up their children.
That’s when the teenage boy walked between two SUVs when a green 2025 Rivian SUV lunged forward, KTLA 5 News reported. The boy’s father was there to pick him up and witnessed his son being hit and crushed between the Rivian and a smaller white SUV.
The teen was later identified as Cosmo Silverman.
Authorities believe the driver inadvertently hit the gas pedal instead of the brakes and set off a chain reaction crash.
Firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded around 3:10 p.m. to the elite private school located in the 4500 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard. They transported the gravely injured teen to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where he later died.
“This is a tragedy for the boy’s family and the entire community,” said Attorney James Johnson, adding that the school will need to review it’s safety procedures.
Meanwhile, a second teenage boy reportedly sustained minor injuries in the collision and was evaluated at the scene. Also, four other people including adults and minors were treated for unspecified minor injuries.
Campbell Hall, a private Episcopal K-12 school, is known for its famous alumni over the years. Among those who have attended the school are child actors, Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen; Dakota and Elle Fanning; and NBA players Jrue, Aaron and Justin Holiday, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division is heading up the investigation.
