Teen Killed in Pomona Scooter Accident San Antonio Avenue, Franklin Avenue

POMONA, Calif. (April 20, 2026) — Angel Roman Mendoza Lopez, 13, of Pomona, died Friday after he was struck by a car while he was riding an electric scooter after school on San Antonio Avenue in Pomona.
The 13-year-old boy was not wearing a helmet as he rode the scooter to a friend’s house. A driver struck the boy, and he suffered a severe head injury in the collision. He was transported to a hospital where he later died, according to police.
The accident occurred in a 25-mile-per-hour zone on San Antonio Avenue, just north of Franklin Avenue.
The driver who struck the boy stopped and cooperated with Pomona detectives.
Meanwhile, the family has a GoFundMe page to help pay for the boy’s medical and funeral costs.
“He lived his life with a beautiful devotion, serving God and embodying kindness, joy, and a gentle spirit that made him beloved by all,” it states on the GoFundMe page organized by Karen Torres.
Liability for the crash is under investigation by the Pomona Police Dept.
