Teen Killed, Sister Injured in Hit-and-Run Collision on 60th Street, 10th Ave

Boy, 16, Killed; Sister, 14, Critically Injured in South LA Hit-and-Run

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Sept. 23, 2026) – A 16-year-old boy and his 14-year-old sister were struck by a driver in a hit-and-run collision Tuesday night at 60th Street and 10th Avenue in South Los Angeles.

Both teens were critically injured in the crash after a driver in a blue Nissan Sentra struck them while walking with their mother on a residential street in the Hyde Park area.

The suspect was driving eastbound on 60th Street when it struck the siblings who were crossing southbound on 60th Street around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22nd, 2026. Witnesses told authorities the driver may have ran a stop sign before hitting the two teenagers.

According to a Los Angeles Police Department the boy did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the girl was transported to a hospital for treatment of major injuries. The mother was not struck by the vehicle, police said.

After hitting the two teenagers, the driver of the blue Nissan also crashed into a parked vehicle and then the woman and her male passenger both exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.

The LAPD is handling the investigation into the collision and searching for the driver. Police confirmed the vehicle was a rental, but there are no further details. Witnesses should contact the LAPD directly.
