
Teen Seriously Injured in Crash at Truxtun Avenue and Williams Street
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Jan. 22, 2025) — A 14-year-old boy riding a bicycle suffered severe injuries in a Bakersfield car accident on East Truxtun Avenue near Williams Street.
The traffic collision occurred around 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20th, in the east Bakersfield area, according to Bakersfield Now.
The teenage boy was riding the bike in an eastbound direction against traffic on the westbound side of Truxtun Avenue.
He was reportedly riding with a large group of juveniles who were riding their bikes in the wrong direction and some were performing wheelies, according to KGET.
when he was hit by a gray Toyota sedan. The driver in the westbound car stopped and someone called 911 for help.
Paramedics rushed the injured boy to a hospital where the teenager was listed in critical condition, the report said.
The Bakersfield Police Department questioned the driver and they are heading up the investigation into what happened.
Preliminary results of the investigation indicate that excessive speed and impairment were not likely factors in the crash.
