Teenager Injured in E-Bike Accident in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Dec. 2, 2024) — A teenager riding an e-bike was seriously injured Saturday in a car accident on Fairfield Street near Huxley Street in the Bay Park area of San Diego.
The 17-year-old boy was hospitalized after the collision that occurred around 5:10 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30th, in the 2600 block of Fairfield Street, according to the San Diego Police Department.
San Diego police responded to the scene of the crash involving a 41-year-old man driving a 2001 Mercedes Benz. The car was headed southbound on Fairfield Street when its driver made a left-hand turn and collided with the e-bike rider.
The teenager riding the e-bike without a helmet was thrown off into the roadway where he suffered multiple facial fractures, police said.
Paramedics responded and rushed the injured teen to a hospital, but it’s unknown if the injuries were life-threatening.
Investigators spoke with the driver of the Mercedes and determined driving under the influence was not a factor in the collision, police said.
Police are asking anyone with information about the e-bike accident to contact the police or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
