Teenage Boy at Bus Stop Killed in Long Beach Crash on Carson Street

LONG BEACH, Calif. (June 12, 2025) — Two vehicles were involved in a crash, and one of them struck and killed a 15-year-old boy waiting at a bus stop Wednesday on Carson Street in Long Beach.
Authorities were called to the scene near Palo Verde Avenue around 3 p.m. on June 11th, where they discovered one of the vehicles had overturned, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Driver Fails to Stop at Light
The driver of a 2010 Infiniti G37 was westbound on Carson Street and the driver allegedly failed to stop for a red traffic signal at Palo Verde Avenue. Meanwhile, a southbound driver in a 2010 Toyota Prius on Palo Verde Avenue had a green light and collided with the Infiniti. The Infiniti overturned and went up on the sidewalk where it struck the boy sitting at the bus stop.
The teen was transported to a hospital with major injuries, but he later died at the hospital.
Two others were injured and taken to a nearby hospital, said the Long Beach Fire Department. A third person at the scene declined medical treatment.
Teenage Boy Killed in Crash
The identity of the deceased teenager is being withheld until family members can be notified.
Police questioned a 32-year-old Lakewood man from the Prius as well as the driver of the Infiniti who was taken to a hospital with undisclosed injuries.
In response to the crash, Carson Street was closed in both directions between Woodruff Avenue and Los Coyotes Diagonal as investigators examined the scene.
