3 Injured in Crash on State Route 43
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (Sept. 19, 2023) – Yareli Lemus-Molina, 18, and his passenger, Dominick Reyes, 15, both died in a head-on collision Friday night on Highway 43 in Fresno County.
The deadly collision occurred on state Route 43 around 10:15 p.m. on Sept. 15th in a rural area, just southwest of Kingsburg, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The two-vehicle crash happened just north of East Davis Avenue between a Toyota Camry and a Range Rover.
Investigators say Yareli Lemus-Molina was driving the Toyota with two teenage passengers. The three teenagers were traveling southbound on Highway 43. An 18-year-old was in the back seat and a 15-year-old identified as Dominick Reyes was in the front passenger seat.
The Toyota was coming up behind slower-moving traffic on SR-43. The driver attempted to pass a car when it allegedly crossed over a solid yellow line and crashed head-on into a northbound black Range Rover.

Meanwhile, the driver and passenger from the Range Rover also survived with major injuries. Paramedics transported both people to a hospital. The driver is a 57-year-old man and the passenger is believed to be in their 50s.
Investigators working on the case believe two occupants from the Toyota were using marijuana prior to the crash, but authorities have not confirmed this with toxicology results. Also, the 15-year-old who died was not wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred.
