Tehachapi crash Highway 58 Mill
1 Seriously Injured in Tehachapi Crash on Highway 58 Near Mill Street
TEHACHAPI, CA (May 8, 2022) – A crash left at least one person seriously injured on Highway 58 near Mill Street in Tehachapi.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident took place on Sunday afternoon. According to their dispatch, officers reported the wreck at about 2:35 p.m.
The incident happened when a Fiat 500 and a semi-truck collided for an unknown reason in Tehachapi. The two crashed on eastbound Highway 58, just east of Mill Street.
Car and Semi-Truck Collide
The tractor-trailer then rolled on top of the car as a result of the collision. In the process, the Fiat ended up pinned underneath the big rig.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and extricated one trapped occupant from the car. The rescued person sustained major injuries following the accident.
Medical personnel soon took the wounded party to a hospital for treatment. The name of the patient and their condition at this time were not released.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the eastbound lanes of Highway 58 to shut down near Mill after the wreck. The cause of the Tehachapi crash is still under investigation.
