TEMECULA: Mica Sherman, 22, Fatally Injured in a Traffic Collision on Rancho Vista Road

TEMECULA, California (Tuesday, September 28, 2015) – Mica Sherman, 22, was fatally injured on Rancho Vista Road, just west of Mira Loma Drive. A vehicle struck Mica Sherman as she walked along Rancho Vista Road, between Ynez Road and Mira Loma Drive, according to Deputy Armando Munoz of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The Press Enterprise reported that she had been hit by an Acura sedan at about 5:00 a.m. The driver told police that he had not seen her, as she had been laying prone in the roadway when he struck her. He stayed however and fully cooperated with police and paramedics as they attempted to resuscitate the young woman. Despite heroic measures to save her life, Sherman died of her wounds at the scene of the accident at about 5:20 a.m.

Her identity was finally released to Valley News earlier this evening. The roadway was closed for eight hours as police investigated the accident, according to Patch News. Police still have not determined the cause of the accident.
