TEMECULA, California (June 30, 2015) — Alexander Fiala, 24, was killed in a hit-and-run motorcycle accident Sunday night on Rancho California Road, but police arrested the suspected driver the following day, according to a press release by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.

About 8:30 p.m. on June 28, Fiala was riding his motorcycle in the 31800 block of Rancho California Road when he was allegedly struck by driver Benjamin Liano, 22, of Temecula. Police say Liano fled the scene of the crash and left Fiala in the roadway with major injuries.

Paramedics responding to the scene rushed the injured rider to Inland Valley Medical Center where he died a few hours later at 12:16 a.m. the following day.

The Temecula Police Department found the suspect who they determined was intoxicated and arrested him on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter at the Southwest Detention Center.

Witnesses are asked to contact Officer Epp of the Temecula Police Department Traffic Reconstruction Team at (951) 696-3073.
