TEMECULA, California (February 9, 2017) – A deadly traffic collision took place on Los Gatos Road Thursday, according to The Press-Enterprise.
The accident was reported shortly before 11 a.m., just north of Carancho Road.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said 32-year-old Haroute Barbarian was driving a 2006 3-Axle Peterbuilt dump truck south when the vehicle began experiencing mechanical problems. Barbarian, of Corona, stopped on the roadway, turned on his hazard lights and exited the dump truck.
At the same time, a 2008 Freightliner 3-Axle dump truck driven by Thomas Dietrich, 47, of Moreno Valley, in the same direction on the roadway and collided with the back of the disabled dump truck.
Dietrich was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, per MyValleyNews.com
Meanwhile, CHP added that Barbarian fell down a dirt embankment and was transported to Temecula Valley Hospital with minor injuries. His dump truck was pushed into the opposing traffic lane while the second dump truck’s trailer detached, spilling asphalt all over the roadway.
