SANTA ANA, California (September 30, 2016) –Teofilo Estrada Ramirez was killed Sunday night when he was struck by a car as he walked across First Street near Maple Street, the Orange County Sheriff Coroner and the OC Register reported.
The fatal pedestrian accident took place late Sunday about 10 p.m. The driver of the vehicle was traveling westbound on First Street. Ramirez was walking northbound when he was struck by the car. The driver left the scene of the crash without stopping to help the dying man. Police say the driver later called them and stated he was involved in a collision.
The victim died of his injuries at the scene and was later identified by the Orange County Sheriff Coroner.
The Santa Ana Police Department is heading up the investigation into the crash, but it doesn’t appear that alcohol or drugs were involved with either person.
