Two-Vehicle Crash on El Mirage Road in San Bernardino
The two-vehicle collision occurred along El Mirage Road, just west of El Mirage Airport Road. Investigators said Jones was driving a Subaru Forester on the dirt shoulder before making an unsafe turn into the path of an oncoming Honda Civic.
The driver of the Honda attempted to swerve away, but his car overturned and veered off the roadway. He suffered major injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
Authorities said Jones fled the scene after realizing the severity of the crash. CHP investigators later located the Subaru Forester believed to be involved and identified Jones as the driver.
She now faces charges of felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.
“The CHP takes hit-and-run crashes and unsafe driving seriously and will diligently work to investigate these incidents,” said CHP Victorville Area Commander Captain Todd Kovaletz in a statement.
The investigation is ongoing, and no additional information has been released.
