Man Badly Injured in Hickman Head-On Crash
HICKMAN, Stanislaus County (July 14, 2017) – A man was injured in a head-on collision on Hickman Road that led to the arrest of a suspected drunk driver Thursday night, according to The Modesto Bee.
The accident took place just before 9 p.m., south of Sixth Street.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said 29-year-old Terry Reed Stanger II was driving a Dodge Durango south on Hikman Road when he veered into the northbound lanes. The Turlock man then struck nearly head-on a Kia Rio traveling north at the time.
The male driver of the Kia sustained moderate injuries including a broken nose and lacerations. His female passenger was not hurt.
CHP affirmed that Stanger did not stop and continued going south and then went west on Whitmore Avenue. Officers received several reports on the Durango as it smoked, sparked and swerved all over the roadway.
The vehicle left debris and even caused a small vegetation fire at Gratton Road and Whitmore. It finally came to a rest after it drove into the opposing lane, slamming into an irrigation pipe along Whitmore.
Stanger was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Meanwhile, another car traveling behind the Kia sustained damage caused by the debris but no other party was harmed.
It is evident that the alleged drunk driver, Mr. Terry Reed Stanger II, will be held responsible for prompting the crash. In a particular situation like this where a negligent motorist and his wrongdoing caused injuries to another party, the victim has the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit against Mr. Stanger II.
