Tesla Crashes on Ambulance in Kearny Mesa Parking Lot
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (March 31, 2022) — Several people were injured Wednesday in a solo-vehicle crash involving a Tesla and a parked, unoccupied ambulance in the Kearny Mesa area.
A driver in a Tesla with two or three passengers suffered injuries about 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30th when the car crashed down a small embankment. The vehicle landed on top of an ambulance in parking lot on Greencraigh Lane, just south of Kaiser Permanente San Diego Medical Center,
The driver reportedly accelerated as they pulled into a parking spot, police said.
San Diego Fire-Rescue Department responded to the scene to help those hurt in the crash.
Officials reported the Tesla driver had been “a little bit distracted.” The vehicle “shot over” a curb stop and landed on top of a Flack ambulance parked at the company’s headquarters. The Tesla’s front bumper was on the ambulance and its rear wheels were on the embankment.
Three or four occupants from the Tesla were transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue.
