Tesla Hits Teens Riding Electric Scooter Hewes Street in Orange

Teenage Boys Injured in Car Accident at Hewes and Via Lardo Avenue
ORANGE, Calif. (April 2, 2025) — Two teenage boys riding an electric scooter suffered major injuries Tuesday afternoon in a car accident on Hewes Street in Orange.
The pedestrian accident happened just after 2 p.m. at Via Lardo Avenue, according to the Orange Police Department.
The teenagers were riding the motorized scooter against the flow of traffic in the northbound lanes of Hewes Street. A scooter hit the northbound Tesla’s right passenger side due to unknown circumstances.
Paramedics responded and located both boys without helmets and suffering major injuries. They were transported to OC Global Medical Center in critical, but stable condition and they are both expected to survive.
Investigators spoke with the Tesla driver who was not impaired and cooperated with authorities.
