LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (May 29, 2018) – A Tesla sedan operating on autopilot crashed into a parked Laguna Beach police car Tuesday morning at 20652 Laguna Canyon Road near a homeless shelter, according to the Laguna Beach Police Department.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported today, however, there have been several collisions involving Tesla vehicles believed to be on autopilot where injuries and deaths resulted. Further investigation is underway by Tesla to determine whether or not there are problems with the autopilot mode that should be addressed.
Today’s collision took place about 11:05 a.m. The police vehicle was totaled and was empty at the time of the crash. The man driving the Tesla did not have any immediate injuries to report.
