Theodore Ranger ID’d as Victim of Pedestrian Accident at Gas Station on Alvarado Ave
LOS ANGELES, California (August 23, 2017) — Theordore Ranger, 55, has been identified as the pedestrian who was killed early Wednesday morning when he was struck by a tanker truck in a driveway at Alvarado Avenue and Temple Street, according to On Scene TV.
The fatal crash took place about 12:17 a.m. this morning as the victim walked with his wife and crossed the driveway in front of a gas station. The tanker truck driver was turning into the driveway when they struck the man, but he stopped and spoke with authorities. The victim’s wife was not injured.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division will be heading up the investigation.
Fatal Crash Investigation
Police are piecing together what led to this pedestrian accident and who is liable. Typically, a pedestrian will have the right-of-way over vehicles, especially on a sidewalk or in a marked crosswalk. The tanker truck driver in this case may not have seen the man, however, this will not preclude the motorist from being held accountable for Mr. Ranger’s death.
