THERMAL, California (Monday, January 11, 2016) – A 12 year-old girl was injured in a traffic collision at the intersection of State Route Highway 86 and Treadwell Boulevard. A Nissan pickup truck struck the guardrail of the roadway. The occupants of the vehicle included the 12 year-old and an infant. The older girl might have sustained a fracture. The truck itself was heavily damaged, but did not pose an immediate traffic hazard.
The fire department sent two units to help secure the situation. An air-ambulance transported the injured child to a nearby medical facility for care.
The incident took place this morning at about 11:08 p.m., according to an incident report by the California Highway Patrol, El Centro. No further details have been released. The police are investigating however; check with the CHP for updates.
