THERMAL, California (July 7, 2016) — Suspected drunk driver Davell Oden, 22, of La Quinta was arrested Wednesday night after he allegedly drove through a red traffic light and caused a collision involving six other vehicles, according to a report by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Police say Oden was DUI behind the wheel of a white Chevrolet Suburban. He reportedly failed to stop at the red traffic light at Washington Street as he drove eastbound on Avenue 5o.
The Suburban SUV overturned onto its side after it was struck by a driver in a white Dodge Ram about 6 p.m. last night.
The La Quinta Police Department responded to the scene where a total of seven vehicles were involved in the collision. The vehicles suffered moderate to major damage in the collision, but details about how many people were hurt were not provided in the report.
Oden, however, was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for undisclosed injuries and will be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Witnesses are asked to contact the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, at (760) 863-8990.
