2 Children Injured in Thermalito Hit-and-Run Crash on 12th Street Near Oroville

THERMALITO, CA (March 12, 2022) – Two juveniles were injured after a hit-and-run crash on 12th Street in Thermalito.

According to an article published by the Chico Enterprise Record, the accident took place on Saturday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 3:53 p.m.

The incident began when a white BMW almost hit the front-end of a patrol vehicle. Police said they tried to stop the car which then fled westbound on Mono Avenue into the Thermalito area.

In the process, the BMW struck black Honda Civic going south on 12th Street. Two juveniles and a man were riding the Honda at the time.

2 Cars Collide

Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found both children hurt. They rushed one of them, a 5-year-old boy, to a local hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

Medical personnel listed the other child in serious but stable condition. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the woman driving of the BMW left the area following the collision.

Officers arrested her passenger for outstanding felony warrants and booked into Butte County Jail. Police forced stretch of 12th Street to shut down for a time as a result of the wreck.

The Thermalito hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
