Thomas Adams, 58, Killed in South L.A. Hit-and-Run on 49th Street and Compton Avenue
LOS ANGELES (January 14, 2018) – A bicyclist was killed after an alleged hit-and-run crash in the area of 49th Street and Compton Avenue Friday, according to KTLA and NBC Los Angeles.
The victim has been identified as 58-year-old Thomas Demetrius Adams.
As per the reports, police said Adams was riding a bicycle west on 49th Street when he fell off his bike in front of a blue Ford Econoline van.
The van then ran over Adams who became pinned beneath the vehicle. The collision was reported about 5 p.m. near the intersection with Compton Avenue, in the Central-Alameda neighborhood of South Los Angeles.
Adams was rushed to Los Angeles County USC Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver of the van, a black woman between 20 to 30 years old, initially attempted to help the cyclist but got in a white pickup truck along with two black men. The car, with a license plate number 5YNV338, fled and was last seen heading west on 49th Street.
