Thomas Sullivan, 61, Injured in Arnold Head-On Crash on Highway 4
ARNOLD, CA (April 20, 2021) – A DUI crash left Thomas Sullivan injured along Highway 4 near a state park in Arnold.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 61-year-old Dorrington man as the victim of the wreck which occurred on Saturday morning.
The incident happened when Thomas M. Sullivan was driving a 2004 Ford F-250 east on Highway 4 in Arnold. At the same time, a 2006 Honda Civic was going west.
CHP said the Honda slowed to cross over the centerline, directly into the path of the pickup truck. In the process, the Civic slammed head-on into the Ford.
2 Others Hurt in DUI Collision Near Big Trees State Park
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene near the entrance of Calaveras Big Trees State Park. They found Thomas Sullivan suffering from minor injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed him and a male passenger of the Honda with moderate injuries to the Adventist Health Sonora for treatment.
The Calaveras Enterprise and My Mother Lode reported the accident on April 17 shortly after 10 a.m. Meanwhile, an air ambulance took the female driver of the Civic to a Modesto hospital with major injuries.
CHP determined that she was under the influence of alcohol when she hit the pickup. Authorities placed the woman under arrest for felony DUI, causing injury. The Arnold crash is still under investigation.
