Thongkhan Phanthavong Killed in Fresno County Pedestrian Accident

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (June 30, 2025) — Thongkhan Phanthavong, 45, of Fresno, died in a pedestrian accident one week ago at Shields and De Wolf avenues in Fresno County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 20-year-old Clovis man driving a Toyota Tundra pickup truck struck the woman around 9:45 p.m. on Monday, June 23rd, at the county intersection, just east of the city of Fresno.

Upon arrival they located the injured woman lying in the roadway. Paramedics provided life-saving measures, however, Thongkhan Phanthavong died at the scene.

Investigators working on the case believe the man was unable to avoid hitting the woman as she walked in the roadway, but the circumstances are under investigation.

The driver stopped and is cooperating with investigators.
