THOUSAND PALMS, California (September 15, 2014) – One person is dead and another person suffered moderate injuries early Saturday morning after a solo vehicle traffic accident on the eastbound Interstate 10 Freeway, just east of Monterey Avenue, according to a press release by the CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department.
About 5:42 a.m., nearly a dozen Riverside firefighters responded to the crash involving a car crash where one person was ejected and died. A second person in the vehicle required rescuing after becoming trapped in the wreckage. Nearly an hour after the crash was reported, firefighters managed to free the person and transported them to a nearby hospital where they were treated for moderate injuries.
“This is a tragic accident and my condolences go out to the family of the person who died,” said Attorney James Johnson. “Hopefully the other individual has a full recovery.”
