At Least 1 Injured in Crash Near Monterey Avenue
THOUSAND PALMS, Riverside County (August 10, 2017) – An alleged hit-and-run collision took place on the westbound Interstate 10 Freeway Thursday afternoon, according to California Highway Patrol group.
As per the dispatch, three vehicles were involved in the crash. Initial reports said a white Chevrolet pickup truck was struck at 2:35 p.m. on the freeway. Prior to the collision, a gray Honda Accord and a white Toyota Camry were reportedly racing on the freeway near Monterey Avenue.

At this time, it remained unclear which vehicle struck the pickup, and drove off the scene.
Responding medical personnel found one person hurt following the crash. Details on the condition of the victim, and their name were not immediately disclosed.
Investigators continue to work on identifying the cause of the crash.
It is expected for any motorist to stop and remain at the scene after being involved in a crash. Regardless of their reasons, fleeing the area is a serious crime and punishable by law, especially if the collision led to the injury of another individual.
