Pedestrian Injured in Thousand Palms Hit-and-Run on Varner Road
THOUSAND PALMS, CA (September 5, 2021) – A pedestrian was hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash on Varner Road in Thousand Palms.
The California Highway Patrol said the incident took place late Sunday night. According to their dispatch, officers reported the accident shortly before 11 p.m.
CHP determined that a vehicle struck the pedestrian for an unknown reason in Thousand Palms. The driver hit the person at 72305 Varner Road near Ramon Road.
Victim Hit by Vehicle
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near the Carl’s Jr. restaurant. They found the victim left wounded as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel took the patient to the Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries. Officials did not disclose the name of the pedestrian and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to help the victim and then fled the area. Officers forced a stretch of Varner Road to shut down following the accident.
The cause of the Thousand Palms hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
