Three Family Members Killed in Crash near Lancaster on State Route 138 (Ave D)

LANCASTER, Calif. (July 5, 2025) — Three family members — Vanessa Gonzalez-Gabriel, 38, Abdias Gabriel-Fernandez, 48, and their 12-year-old Ruby Gabriel — were tragically killed when they were ejected from a pickup truck during a Lancaster crash on State Route 138.
Meanwhile, a second child was seriously injured, and the other driver suffered minor injuries.
The deadly crash occurred around 4:25 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2nd at the intersection of SR-138 (West Avenue D) and 110th Street West in Antelope Acres, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Investigators say the victims were traveling in a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck that accelerated from a stop sign on 110th Street directly into the path of an eastbound Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck on SR-138. All three victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
A second child in the Colorado survived and was transported to Antelope Valley Medical Center, where they underwent emergency surgery. The driver of the Dodge sustained only minor injuries and was also treated at the same hospital.
CHP officials noted that the crash was captured on video by a nearby vehicle.
No criminal charges are expected to be filed in connection with the incident.
