Timothy Bump Fatal Pedestrian Accident Lugonio Avenue and Church Street in Redlands
Suspect in Hit-and-run Fatality Crash is Arrested; Victim ID’d
REDLANDS, Calif. (Jan. 4, 2024) — Timothy Bump, 72, of Redlands, died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Dec. 30th at Lugonio Avenue and Church Street in Redlands.
The deadly crash was reported to police at around 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 30th after a passerby saw the victim lying in the roadway at the intersection, the Daily Bulletin reports. The San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner identified the man who died as Timothy Bump.
Meanwhile, Redlands traffic investigators began working to identify a suspect’s vehicle and used evidence left behind including debris and paint chips.
Detectives determined the vehicle involved was a 2000 to 2003 Mitsubishi and were able to confirm this with surveillance video that showed a 2002 Mitsubishi SUV in the area. Police located a 61-year-old Mentone resident who owned the vehicle and subsequently arrested him.
Later, the driver was able to post bail and was released, but has not been charged.
The case remains under investigation.
