2 Killed, 2 Injured in Chatsworth Collision on De Soto Avenue
CHATSWORTH, Calif. (Feb. 18, 2019) — Timothy Deneen, 72, and Yolanda Gonzalez, 73, both of Chatsworth, were killed, two others were injured in a multi-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon in Chatsworth, according to local news sources.
The crash was reported at 3:30 p.m. at De Soto Avenue and Plummer Street. The drivers involved were in a white 2003 Toyota Avalon, a silver 2011 Infiniti M37 and a third vehicle that fled the scene, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Police say a 26-year-old Granada Hills man was driving the Infiniti southbound on De Soto at a high rate of speed when the car crashed into the northbound Toyota as it was attempting a left-hand turn onto Plummer Street.
Deneen and Gonzalez, who were in the Toyota, died at the scene. Meanwhile, a 9-year-old girl, who was in the back seat of their car, was gravely injured and was transported to Northridge Hospital Medical Center where she is fighting for her life.
Firefighters extricated the driver of the Infiniti who was severely injured and he was transported to a hospital.
