Fatal Wrong-Way Collision Near Maxwell Rest Area
Colusa County, CA (August 22, 2022) – Timothy McDaniels, a 57-year-old man from Vacaville, died following a car accident that occurred on Interstate 5.
The KCRA3 News reported two vehicles collided near Fairview Road in Colusa County Monday morning. Preliminary investigation revealed a 24-year-old woman was behind the wheel of a 2012 Nissan Altima heading south on the freeway. For reasons still unclear, the woman allowed the Nissan to veer into the opposite lane. The wrong-way car ended up crashing head-on into a southbound vehicle.
4 Killed, 1 Hospitalized in Colusa County Car Accident
According to the article published online, the wrong-way driver sadly died in the accident.
Authorities added three other people in the other car also died in the collision. The California Highway Patrol group identified one fatal victim as Timothy McDaniels, of Vacaville.
Per local news source, paramedics transported a surviving passenger–52-year-old David McDaniels, to Enloe Medical Center for treatment of major trauma.
Several factors surrounding the unfortunate event have not been discussed thus far. At this time, detectives continue to investigate exactly how and why the deadly crash happened on Interstate 5 in Colusa County.
