MODESTO, California (August 1, 2016) — Timothy Rigney, 18, died after a collision involving two or three vehicles early Monday morning at South Carpenter Road and West Fulkerth Road, a California Highway Patrol report said.
The crash took place about 5:51 a.m. There was a blue sedan on fire that the Stanislaus Fire Department put out as they pulled out people from the burning vehicle.
In an article by The Modesto Bee, CHP said an 18-year-old Turlock man was driving a 1998 Saturn sedan south on Carpenter Road as he allegedly passed vehicles at high speed. He lost control of the car and then collided head-on with a 2008 Nissan Altima which was headed north.
The driver of the Nissan, 47-year-old Kenneth Bodiker, was transported to Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock to be treated for moderate injuries.
The 18-year-old motorist was killed in the wreck. His passenger, 22-year-old Modesto resident Troy Preston, was seriously injured and then rushed to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment.
The incident remains under investigation.
