Todd Cawyer Killed in Westlake Pedestrian Accident at Eighth and Alvarado Streets

Driver Hits Pedestrians on Sidewalk after Two-Vehicle Crash

LOS ANGELES (May 16, 2025) – Todd Cawyer, 45, died in a pedestrian accident on Mother’s Day in the Westlake area and a second person was critically injured after a vehicle involved in a collision careened onto a sidewalk.

The victim was identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office.

The incident occurred around 11:50 p.m. Sunday, May 11th at the intersection of Eighth and Alvarado streets, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Authorities said a vehicle traveling southbound on Alvarado Street collided with another vehicle heading westbound on Eighth Street. The force of the impact sent the southbound vehicle off the road and onto the southwest corner sidewalk, striking two men.

Paramedics transported both pedestrians to a nearby hospital, where Todd Cawyer was pronounced dead. The second man has been treated for major injuries and his current condition is unknown.

Information regarding the condition or identity of the drivers involved has not been released. The investigation is ongoing.
