Tommy Le Killed, Reinne Lim Seriously Injured in Tustin DUI Crash on 5 Freeway
TUSTIN, CA (October 4, 2022) – A DUI wrong-way crash killed Reinne Lim and seriously injured Tommy Le on the 5 Freeway in Tustin.
The California Highway Patrol identified the two 22-year-old people as victims in the fatal wreck which took place on Sunday.
The incident happened when Tommy Le was driving a white Subaru Outback with Reinne J. Lim as his passenger on the southbound 5 Freeway in Tustin.
At the same time, a 2015 Toyota Prius was traveling north on the southbound 5 Freeway transition to southbound 55 Freeway. In the process, the Toyota slammed head-on into the Subaru.
CHP said prior to the accident, the suspect was seen going north on the southbound 55 Freeway at the 405 Freeway.
Speeding Wrong-Way Driver Hits Another Car
Both cars obtained major front-end damage due to the impact of the collision. The Orange County Register and My News LA wrote that the wreck occurred on October 2 at about 2:10 a.m.
Reinne Lim, of Anaheim, died at the scene of the crash while Tommy Le, of Costa Mesa, sustained a broken right leg and right hand. Paramedics rushed the patient to a hospital for treatment.
The speeding driver survived the incident with multiple cuts on his legs, arms and head. Medical personnel took him for further aid.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that the man in the Prius was under the influence of alcohol when he hit the victims. They soon arrested him for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
Officers also charged the suspect with DUI causing injury DUI with a blood-alcohol content of .08% or more causing injury. The Tustin crash is still under investigation.
