Driver, 37, Killed in San Bernardino Car Crash at Lynwood and Mountain Avenues
SAN BERNARDINO (June 1, 2020) – Authorities detained the alleged DUI driver in a crash that killed another motorist at Lynwood and Mountain avenues early Monday.
Police determined that 42-year-old Toniyo Atkinson, of San Bernardino, was under the influence of drugs or alcohol when the accident occurred.
According to an article published by The Daily Bulletin, the incident began when a Honda Accord traveled into the path of the Chevy Tahoe driven by Atkinson.
Officers said in the process the SUV then broadsided the Accord at the intersection of Lynwood and Mountain avenues. The wreck took place at about 2:14 a.m.

Paramedics responded to the scene and confirmed that the 37-year-old San Bernardino resident driving the Accord died as a result of the incident.
The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of family. Meanwhile, police affirmed that a vehicle involved ran a stop sign prior to the collision.
Officers also added that speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. Authorities arrested Atkinson on suspicion of DUI and booked him at the West Valley Detention Center with a bail set at $100,000.
