Pedestrian Badly Injured in Torrance DUI Crash at Del Amo Circle East and Plaza Del Amo
TORRANCE, CA (July 6, 2021) – A DUI crash badly injured a pedestrian at Del Amo Circle East and Plaza Del Amo in Torrance.
According to the CBS Los Angeles and My News LA, the accident took place on Tuesday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 2:30 p.m.
The incident began when a woman was driving south on Del Amo Circle East, approaching Plaza Del Amo, in Torrance. At the same time, a pedestrian was walking in the crosswalk.
Torrance police said the driver then sped through a stop sign at the intersection and struck the victim. She lost control of her car and crashed into The Brews Hall brewery at 21770 Del Amo Circle East.
DUI Driver Hits Victim, Brewery
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found both the pedestrian and the motorist hurt as a result of the crash. They sustained moderate injuries upon impact.
Medical personnel took the wounded parties to a hospital for treatment. Officials did not disclose their names and condition at this time.
Meanwhile, police determined that the woman was under the influence when the collision took place. The entrance of the business she hit ended up damaged.
CHP forced the intersection of Del Amo Circle East and Plaza Del Amo to shut down for a time following the wreck. The Torrance pedestrian DUI collision is still under investigation.
