Motorcyclist Killed in Bakersfield Crash at Chester Avenue and 2nd Street
BAKERSFIELD (February 14, 2020) – A motorcyclist was killed after an alleged DUI crash in the area of Chester Avenue and 2nd Street Friday evening.
According to reports the Bakersfield Now and Kern Golden Empire, officers received a call about the fatal accident shortly before 6 p.m.
The incident began when a man riding a motorcycle was approaching the intersection. At the same time, a pickup truck was making an unsafe turn.
Police said the motorcyclist and the vehicle driven by Torres Dawson then collided in the intersection of Chester Avenue and 2nd Street.
Suspected DUI Driver ID’d as Torres Dawson
Paramedics responded to the site and pronounced the rider dead at the scene. The name of the deceased victim has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police determined that Dawson was driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs when he crashed into the motorcycle.
Officers ultimately arrested Dawson on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter and booked him into the Kern County Jail.
