Tracy McPherson, 50, Killed in Bakersfield Crash on Highway 58
BAKERSFIELD, CA (December 2, 2022) – Tracy McPherson was killed after a car crash on Highway 58 in Bakersfield.
The coroner’s office identified the 50-year-old Bakersfield woman as the victim of the fatal accident which occurred on Sunday.
The incident began when Tracy McPherson was driving a 1995 Ford Thunderbird on Highway 58 in Bakersfield. For an unknown reason, her car became disabled along the right shoulder.
At the same time, a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado was going west on the highway. The pickup truck then swerved to the right, west of the Oswell Street exit.
The Chevrolet hit the back of the stopped Ford and overturned due to the impact of the collision. The California Highway Patrol said the Silverado came to a rest in the dirt shoulder.
Gilberto Gallegos Jr, 31, Placed Under Arrest
The Bakersfield Californian and Kern Golden Empire wrote that the wreck took place on November 27 at around 2:15 a.m. Tracy McPherson died at the scene of the crash.
Her passenger ended up unharmed. The driver of the pickup, 31-year-old Gilberto Gallegos Jr, sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.
Paramedics rushed the Bakersfield man to the Kern Medical for further aid. CHP determined that he was under the influence when he hit the victim.
CHP soon placed Gilberto Gallegos under arrest for DUI. Officers forced a stretch of Highway 58 to shut down for a time following the wreck.
The cause of the Bakersfield DUI crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the CHP in Bakersfield at 661-396-6600.
