Traffic Collision on Cabrillo Highway 1 Near State Park Drive in Aptos

Santa Cruz County, Calif., (June 09, 2026) — A traffic collision resulted in minor injuries late Tuesday morning on Cabrillo Highway, or State Route 1, north of State Park Road in the Aptos area of Santa Cruz County. The incident, logged on June 9th at 9:56 a.m., involved a small vehicle colliding into the back of a black pickup truck, according to California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports.

The crash occurred on the northbound side of State Route 1, and both vehicles reportedly pulled over to the right-hand side of the road following the collision. The small vehicle involved, a five-seater, showed signs of front left damage, and the driver appeared disoriented.

Emergency responders, including an ambulance from AMR, were dispatched to the scene. The injured parties received medical attention for what appeared to be minor injuries. Meanwhile, CHP officers managed traffic flow as vehicle debris was cleared from the roadway.
