Deadly Car Accident at Broadway and Miller Street in Santa Maria
SANTA MARIA, Calif. (June 10, 2026) — A devastating overnight crash in Santa Maria left five young people dead and another person fighting for survival after a vehicle slammed into a traffic signal early Sunday morning, authorities said.
The deadly collision happened on June 7th around 1:40 a.m. near the intersection of Broadway and Miller Street, where emergency crews arrived to find catastrophic wreckage after a vehicle crashed into roadside infrastructure.
According to investigators, four occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. A fifth victim later succumbed to injuries after being rushed to a hospital.
Officials identified the victims as 16-year-old Isabella Star Vigil, 17-year-old Nicolas Munoz-Gautreaux, 19-year-old Jennifer Gutierrez, 16-year-old Guendi Beatrice Gamez Escalante, and 17-year-old Yusbeli Diaz Galvez.
A sixth passenger, identified as 24-year-old Aurelio Calixtro Matias, survived the impact but remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Investigators are now working to determine what led to the deadly crash. Early evidence suggests the vehicle may have been traveling at a high rate of speed before impact.
