Train Kills Pedestrian Tuesday Night in Anderson
ANDERSON (June 20, 2017)- According to the Record Searchlight, a deadly collision took place where a pedestrian was hit by a train Tuesday evening.
Police officials were notified of the incident at 7:20 p.m. at the intersection of Ox Yoke Road and Highway 273.
Limited details have been provided at this time as the pedestrian who remains unidentified sadly suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced at the scene.
Early morning work commuters experienced major delays as the train blocked the intersection for an extended period of time. As a result, all traffic goers were redirected and forced to take a detour.
Shasta County Coroners along with the local police department will team up to handle the investigation to determine what happened and why.
This story will be updated when the victim’s name is released.
There are still several unanswered questions here. Was there anything defective with the railroad crossing gates and signals? Did the train fail to sound its horn when approaching crossing? Was there adequate or poor crossing designs? Was there a track defect that may have caused the person to trip or get stuck when crossing the tracks? Police officials will thoroughly look into this incident to determine the exact circumstances and which party or entity to ultimately held accountable. If the fatal pedestrian is found to have not been at fault then the victim’s family will be entitled to a wrongful death claim including funeral expenses and loss of consortium.
