Daniel Wooten Killed in Fatal Riverside Crash on Van Buren Boulevard
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (Oct. 23, 2020) — A fatal Riverside crash involving a pedestrian and a trash truck was reported Friday morning on Van Buren Boulevard.
The pedestrian accident was reported at 6:39 a.m. on Oct. 23rd to the California Highway Patrol.
The pedestrian, identified as Daniel Wooten, 45, was crossing Van Buren Boulevard at Constable Road when they were hit by the truck. It’s unknown at this time if the Riverside man was in a crosswalk or not, but that is part of the police investigation.
Cal Fire/Riverside County Firefighters sent paramedics to the crash scene, however, Daniel Wooten succumbed to their injuries. Meanwhile, police closed down the roadway to traffic while investigators piece together what happened. There are marked crosswalks in this area and the intersection is controlled by traffic lights, however, it’s unknown if the driver was obeying posted traffic signals or not.
The pedestrian was identified by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
Meanwhile, it’s unknown at this time if there were any witnesses or surveillance cameras in the area. Eventually, police detectives will determine liability for the fatal crash. The CHP incident number is 00171.
