Trayshon Lowery Fatal Victorville Pedestrian Accident on Palmdale Road
Man, 20, Killed in Pedestrian Accident in Victorville
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (Oct. 6, 2023) — Trayshon P. Lowery, 20, died Saturday in a pedestrian accident on Palmdale Road in Victorville.
A driver in a white pickup truck reportedly struck the young man at around 5:57 a.m. on Sept. 30th in the 14800 block of Palmdale Road, just west of Del Gado Road, according to Victor Valley News Group. The collision occurred near the Hyundai Dealership.
Victorville fire and police officials responded and found the young man deceased in the eastbound lanes of Palmdale Road, police said.
The driver of the white pickup truck had pulled over and stopped on the right shoulder of the westbound lanes. There was damage to the truck’s driver’s side headlight.
The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office identified Trayshon P. Lowery as the man who died. They described the victim as a male transient.
Authorities closed down Palmdale Road between El Evado and Borego Roads for several hours to conduct an investigation into what happened.
Police, however, do not suspect drugs and or alcohol were a factor for the driver.
The case remains under investigation by the Victorville Police Department.
Pedestrian Accident Statistics
Fatal pedestrian accidents in California rose 9.4 percent from 1,013 in 2020 to 1,108 in 2021, according to statistics compiled by the California Office of Traffic Safety.
Victorville accounted for 38 pedestrian deaths in 2020 and overall had 639 traffic fatalities that year, the OTS reports.
