Treyshawn Cooley Injured in Compton Fatal Street Takeover Crash
COMPTON, CA (June 13, 2022) – A fatal street takeover crash left Treyshawn Cooley injured at Wilmington Avenue and Stockwell Street in Compton.
The NBC Los Angeles and CBS Los Angeles identified the man as the victim of the wreck which took place late Sunday night.
The incident happened when Treyshawn Cooley was driving a silver Nissan SUV south on Wilmington Avenue in Compton. At the same time, a red Honda sedan was going east on Stockwell Street.
For an unknown reason, the Honda ran a red light at the intersection and then slammed into the Nissan. Witnesses claimed that the sedan was spinning through the intersection before the collision.
2 Women Killed in Wreck
The accident occurred on June 12 at around 11:40 p.m. Treyshawn Cooley sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash.
The female passenger of the Honda, not wearing a seatbelt, ended up ejected from the car due to the impact of the collision. She and the driver of the sedan died at the scene.
The coroner’s office named them as 18-year-old Jennyfer Flores, of Long Beach; and 20-year-old Michellie Gonzalez, from Cudahy.
Meanwhile, officers are still determining if the Honda was involved in the street takeover prior to the incident. The cause of the Compton crash is still under investigation.
