Trinidad Gonzalez, Maurilia Perez and Kevin Carlson Injured in Merced Crash on Highway 99
MERCED (November 30, 2017) – Two trucks and a passenger car collided on Highway 99 near 16th Street Tuesday morning, according to Merced Sun-Star.
Officials said the accident happened around 8:26 a.m. when a big rig pulling two trailers slowed on the highway for unknown reasons and was rear-ended by a bobtail truck. A Honda vehicle then subsequently slammed into the back of the bobtail truck.
As per the article, the bobtail truck passenger Trinidad Gonzalez was injured in the crash. Gonzalez was transported to Doctors Medical Center for treatment.
Meanwhile, the motorist in the Honda, Livingston resident Maurilia Perez, and big rig driver from Merced, Kevin Carlson, both complained of pain but did not seek help from first responders.
The operator of the bobtail truck, Antonio Rios, was unharmed in the incident, officials said.
The precise cause of the collision is still under investigation.
This accident is the second of two collisions that occurred less than an hour apart on Highway 99 Tuesday morning.
