Major Injury Crash on State Route Highway 299 in Burnt Ranch
TRINITY COUNTY, Calif. (May 21, 2021) — A Trinity County car accident left three people critically injured Friday morning on Highway 299 in front of the Burnt Ranch Postal Office.
The CHP reports a red pickup truck and a white SUV collided for unknown reasons near Hennessey Road. The narrow highway has only two lanes and many curves as it winds below Ironside Mountain.

Also, a 17-year-old girl was among the three people were airlifted to a trauma center after the 10:37 a.m. collision, according to the California Highway Patrol. Meanwhile, one of the injured became trapped in a vehicle and required extrication.
Finally, police are piecing together evidence and witness statements to determine fault for the Highway 299 Burnt Ranch wreck. Most post offices have surveillance cameras and it’s possible that the collision may have been recorded.
