Hit-and-Run Suspect in Fatal San Francisco Hit-and-Run ID’d as Troy McAlister, 45
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (January 5, 2021) – Authorities identified Troy McAlister as the hit-and-run driver in San Francisco fatal crash on New Year’s Eve.
Prosecutors said the 45-year-old man entered a not guilty plea in court after the tragic collision which occurred on December 31.
The incident happened when Troy McAlister was driving a car which he stole from a woman he met on a dating app two days before. He was traveling north on 2nd Street prior to the crash.
McAlister ran a red light at the intersection with Market Street and T-boned another vehicle. He then lost control and hit two female pedestrians crossing in a crosswalk.
The impact ultimately threw the victims into the air. One of them died at the scene while the other patient was pronounced dead at a hospital.
2 Pedestrians Hit and Killed by Stolen Car
Officers named the deceased women as 60-year-old Elizabeth Platt and 27-year-old Hanako Abe. Both were San Francisco residents.
Authorities soon found and arrested the suspect who is on parole for robbery. He is facing two counts of vehicular homicide while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a deadly collision.
His charges also include driving a stolen vehicle, burglary and firearms charges for having a weapon with an extended magazine with him at the time of the incident.
