
Troy Swinnock, 53, Killed in Big Sur Crash on Highway 1
BIG SUR, CA (April 18, 2023) – Troy Swinnock was killed after a motorcycle crash on Highway 1 near the Naval Facility in Big Sur.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 53-year-old Miranda man as the victim in the fatal wreck which took place earlier this month.
The incident happened when Troy Swinnock was riding a Harley Davidson south on Highway 1, toward the Naval Facility, in Big Sur.
Motorcycle and Car Collide
At the same time, a 2020 GMC Sierra 2500 truck made a left turn toward the northbound side of the highway. As the GMC was turning into the facility’s driveway, the car collided with the motorcyclist.
The rider ended up ejected from the motorcycle as a result of the collision. The KRON 4 News and KYMKEMP wrote that the accident occurred on April 5 shortly after 6 a.m.
CHP confirmed that Troy Swinnock died at the scene of the crash. Loved ones set up a GoFundMe page to help cover his funeral expenses.
The driver of the truck, Benjamin F. Scileppui, of Eagle Point, Oregon, ended up unharmed following the wreck. Meanwhile, the cause of the Big Sur crash is still under investigation.
