Christian Lopez, 11, and Madera High School Senior Troyce Raqueno Killed in Crash
MADERA COUNTY, California (April 15, 2019) — Troyce Raqueno, 17, and Christian Lopez, 11, both died in a head-on car crash Saturday in Madera County.
Troyce was driving an Audi that collided head-on with a Toyota 4-Runner by Christian and his family about 4:25 p.m. The 11-year-old child was seated in the back seat of the Toyota when the two vehicles collided on Avenue 12 near Road 34 1/2, according to the California Highway Patrol. Police say Troyce’s vehicle was the one that veered into the path of a westbound Toyota 4-Runner SUV occupied by five people.
Both young people died at the scene of the crash. Four others in the vehicles were taken by ambulances to area hospitals.
Those who knew Raqueno say he was planning to join the Army, following in the footsteps of his older sister.
