Head-on, Rollover Crash on State Route 20 in Smartsville
YUBA COUNTY, Calif. (August 9, 2023) — A head-on traffic accident in Smartsville involving a gravel truck and a pink minivan happened Wednesday morning on Highway 20 near Hammonton Smartsville Road.
The two-vehicle, rollover collision occurred around 7 a.m. on August 9th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported one of the vehicles veered into the path of the other vehicle. The minivan reportedly “flew into the air” and landed on its roof in the eastbound lanes of State Route 20, the report said. The Yuba County Sheriff’s Office requested an ambulance for at least one person injured in the collision, but there are no further details.
Meanwhile, the large gravel truck stopped after the collision and its driver is cooperating with the investigation.
Authorities are piecing together what happened to determine fault for the Smartsville crash on Highway 20.
The case remains under investigation.
